Glencoe Museum - Housed in the home of General Gabriel Wharton (husband of Anne Radford) the house was built in the 1870s. Styled as an Italianate Victorian building, the house was continuously occupied by family descendants although it was eventually used only as a summer house. The City of Radford obtained ownership (via a third-party donation) in December of 1996, restored it to the maximum extend possible using surviving records, and in October of 1998 opened the house as the Glencoe Museum.

The many exhibits include:

• Tools That Built the Nation - a display of a variety of woodworking tools on loan to the museum by John Talton (who frequently gives demonstration of many of the tools' uses with explanations of their importance and uses).
• the Trigg Exhibit - includes many artifacts that were found in a Native American village found near Radford during a archeological dig.
• Veterans Room - a memorial to Radford area veterans.

Open Thursday through Saturday from 11a to 4p and Sundays from 1 to 4p.

  From I-81 northbound, take exit 105 and follow VA-232 (First Street) to Robertson Street. Turn left and follow Robertson to Unruh Drive, turn left and the Glencoe Museum is at the end of the street (600 Unruh Drive).
  From I-81 southbound, take exit 109 and head into Radford on VA-177 (Tyler Avenue). Tyler ends at US-11 (Norwood Street). Turn left here and follow Norwood Drive. Note that Norwood becomes First Street, US-11 turns off to the right and First Street becomes VA-232. Continue on First Street to Robertson Street. Turn right and follow Robertson to Unruh Drive, turn left and the Glencoe Museum is at the end of the street (600 Unruh Drive).

The Long Way Home - an outdoor historical drama wrapped around the tru story of Mary Draper who, in 1775, after having been kidnapped by the Shawnee Indians, escaped and hiked some 850 miles to warn the English settlers of a planned Shawnee massacre.
  When we visited Radford, the season for the drama had expired and the dates for next year's season were not available. While there are several (independent) web sites referenced in the search engines, we could not find a singe one with current information. The Radford Chamber of Commerce was not aware of an official web site. Hence, form information about the play we recommend you phone 1-540-639-0679..

New River Valley Speedway - With a 0.4 mile paved oval track, this NASCAR sanctioned track has races almost every Friday and Saturday evening. Ticket prices are, typically, $10 ($2 for kids 12 and under).

  From I-81 northbound, take exit 105 and follow VA-232 (First Street) to the intersection of US-11. Turn left and US-11 (Lee Highway) to the racetrack at 6749 Lee Highway.
  From I-81 southbound, take exit 109 and head into Radford on VA-177 (Tyler Avenue). Tyler ends at US-11 (Norwood Street). Turn left here and follow US-11. Note: Just after Norwood becomes First Street, US-11 makes a right turn and crosses the New River Bridge. US-11 also becomes Lee Highway. Continue on this highway to the racetrack at 6749 Lee Highway.

Radford University - Established as a "Normal' and industrial school for women, Radford grew in size and scope and gained famed as one of the nation's foremost colleges for women. Times change and Radford changed with the times. In 1972, Radford became coed and, seven years later, was granted university status by Virginia's General Assembly.
  The campus is beautiful, both buildings and landscaping. Most students live wither in university housing or adjacent private housing. Everything is "in walking distance". Radford offers guided tours of the campus by appointment. (Phone the admissions office at 1-800-890-4265.)
  From I-81 take exit 109 and follow VA-177 (Tyler Avenue) into Radford. At the third traffic light, turn right onto Jefferson Street. Go to the next traffic light and turn left onto East Main Street. Again, go to the next traffic light and turn right onto University Drive. Cross the bridge and turn left into Parking Lot 'E'. After entering the parking lot, continue left to the row of spaces that is closest to the river. Park your car and walk over the bridge and cross East Main Street. The Admissions Office is located in 209 Martin Hall which is the first building on your right after crossing East Main Street.
