| Visitors' Center - From I-81 take exit 109 and head into Radford on VA-177 (Tyler Avenue). Tyler ends at US-11 (Norwood Street). Turn left here and the Radford Chamber of Commerce is just
a few hundred yards at 1126 Norwood Street. For more information phone 1-540-639-2202. Glencoe Museum - Housed in the home of General Gabriel Wharton (husband of Anne Radford) the house was built in the 1870s. Styled as an Italianate Victorian building, the house was continuously occupied by family descendants although it was eventually used only as a summer house. The City of Radford obtained ownership
(via a third-party donation) in December of 1996, restored it to the maximum extend
possible using surviving records, and in October of 1998 opened the house as the Glencoe Museum.
Open Thursday through Saturday from 11a to 4p and Sundays from 1 to 4p. |
