I-94 in Illinois

Welcome to Illinois - and miles and miles and miles of toll roads. You begin at the Illinois border. When you enter the Chicago megalopolis you will swap tollways for excruciating traffic. Then more tollway until you swap it for the Indiana Toll Road. In northeastern Ohio you will have a short piece of freeway and then toll road all the way to Boston.
  This part of Illinois is wall-to-wall people sprinkled with a good smattering of industries, - mostly small and mostly home-grown. Many were started by people who had lost their jobs and refused to sit around waiting for another job offer. They just rolled up their sleeves and created their own jobs as well as jobs for a lot of other people. Little companies with 5 or 10 employees but they sure add up and this is one of the viable factors that helps make America great!

Chicago

You don't just stop and spend an hour or two in Chicago. At the very minimum it takes a day to see anything or do anything - and there is a lot to see and do.
  As with most Visitors' Bureaus, you can request them to send you a tourist packet which includes all kinds of information about the area. Chicago's calls itself a Tourism Bureau - and they are multi-lingual: French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
  We've never stopped there nor do we know how to get to their visitors' center but they will be happy to direct you.

  The last time we toured Chicago with grandchildren we stayed at the Homestead in Schaumburg (see above) and hired a limo. Yes! a limo. The driver knew exactly where to go and how to get there - was always ready for us when we exited the museum or whatever and we had no traffic or parking problems. And it was a lot less expensive than you might think. Ask at the front desk of the Homestead and they can make arrangements for you.
